It’s early morning, and the wake-up comes with a ray of sunlight delicately making its way into the trullo. The complete peace and silence of nature are broken only by the chirping of the birds who have made the olive trees in the surrounding countryside their home. Open the French window of the cozy lamia and a pleasant breeze will immediately allow you to breathe in something that the daily grind makes us forget at times: tranquility and harmony.

To sink into this bucolic dimension, travel 1 km along a sheep-track dotted with scented jujube and strawberry trees, just off the Cisternino-Ceglie road and 2 km away from Cisternino, until you reach a vast olive grove. You will be greeted by a wide farmyard bordered by the typical local dry-stone walls and filled with sunlight, thanks to the structure’s southward exposure.
The trulli were designed as small, simple and modest dwellings. Lella & Chicco, the owners, decided to conform to the structure’s original simplicity and, while equipping their trullo with an underfloor heating system, induction stoves, an outdoor shower and an internet connection, they maintained its bond with the past, a past they reinvented and wisely rethought for a new life.Their aim was to accurately restore the buildings, with the right materials and techniques and with the traditional use of the trulli in mind. They added practicalities and comfort, while maintaining a pure and essential design, guaranteeing the structure’s authenticity. The outcome of their efforts is a small gem, restructured gracefully and perfectly balanced between the past and the present.
